The StayCation is here, let’s embrace it

There are highlights to a local holiday, a StayCation.  Even if the weather doesn’t shine for us all day, there is adventure, fun, relaxation and beauty all around.  One just needs to look for it.

We had the pleasure of hiring our own boat to cruise the Shannon River and Lough Derg last weekend and it highlighted how awesome it is to #StayLocal #HolidayInIreland.

www.shannon-river.com was incredible, offering amazing services, unexpected and spectacular boating facilities, and best of all, brilliant rates!

Who amongst you have visited the likes of Clonmacnoise – from a boat?  Such incredible history which started in 542 (yes, that far back). 

Have you ever moored your boat on a small, empty quay, to walk across to a new coffee dock which was literally started by 2 lovely ladies on that bright, sunny Saturday morning?  And during a pandemic!

Followed by a walk around to the beautiful Meelick Church, where the field-locals spot you from their windows, amongst these beautiful old buildings.

Our first Guinness Pints since before Christmas 2020 were secured from an unmarked, indiscreet village doorway – noticed only by the small sign saying “alcohol purchased here must be consumed more than 100m away”.  Those pints were sublime, even from (recyclable) plastic cups, it’s all in the experience.

Ireland is beautiful, she offers adventure, she offers fun, excitement, as well as unique and spectacular sights.

Embrace the 2021 StayCation and enjoy all that this beautiful island of Ireland has to offer.
