Hi there, I'm Orla
Thank you for visiting my website
I am an adventurer, as well as a diverse entrepreneur who has travelled extensively during my chosen careers. Through this I discovered that photography is simply the most beautiful way to see and share the world.
Ever since I was a child, born in Ireland, I knew I wanted to do something related to art and creativity. As a little girl, I used every opportunity to get my hands on any camera and snap away.
My early life was filled with many happy and wonderful memories of Ireland.
At the tender age of 11 we left Dublin and immigrated to Africa, where my first sighting was in 1976, the majestic Table Mountain rising out of the sea in all its glory, as our ship the SA Vaal, which had been our home for the past 17 days, approached Cape Town Harbour, South Africa.
I am confident that this first view of the African Continent started me on what would, and has continued to be, an amazing Photographic Adventure.
I have been blessed to travel extensively in Africa over the past 30+ years, covering many countries and experiencing their abundance of photographic opportunities. From South Africa to Botswana, onto Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi, Swaziland, Lesotho, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Mauritius.
In recent years I have found myself back in my home country, Ireland.
My darling husband Brian has always loved Ireland and during our many holiday visits over the years, his desire to move back grew.
Ireland is as fascinating as Africa, people are as diverse, the countryside and cities meld into one, allowing for some spectacular photograph moments.
Lighthouses are a fascination of mine and Ireland has more around this island than one would imagine.
I have visited a number of these remarkable monuments and am logging them through photographs – photos to be shared as my treasured travels continue.
Experiencing and capturing moments and memories across these varied regions has made me realize I love natural light photography!
The pure beauty of the environment I keep finding myself in is my inspiration to this enchanting way of taking photographs.
Natural light photography is intrinsically interesting. No fan blowing hair but rather the wind in its natural state. No flashes, no posing, just simple authenticity, capturing the look and feel as naturally as nature allows us to.
I am privileged to share some of these moments with you on my website, as well as within some photography books of mine, and I trust that you will find time to experience just some of the marvels that surround us.
